Welcome and Why!

Welcome to Sitedashboard.com, thank you for taking the time to read some of the articles on the site. I must start by apologising for my lack of writing ability, I haven’t got the way with words that many blog authors’ possess, however, in the spirit of the rest of the sitedashboard.com site, I hope to impart useful information to help the users of the site.

Why the blog format?? The main site had many articles, hard coded in html, this was a pain to administer. We entertained moving them into the forums, and shrink the content into smaller chunks of information, but the loss of context seems to make them less useful. So the next investigation was look at CMS, which also seemed to be a huge administrative headache for our site, as we have many other parts to it, in that investigation, Drupal came across my desk.

Drupal is an open-source application, but is not specifically a site wide CMS system, in the way many are. It can be used as such, but lends its self better to a "blog" style of site management. The thing that attracted it to me, was that it has a good and thriving community.

I know I am being quite general, but as I add more content, I'll go into more depth on these and many other things.

I am also working very hard to get Guest writers to post their thoughts, You can find a bio about each in the writers menu to the left, and we welcome contributions from any of our readers, be that in comments or by writing articles.
